Manuel Pellegrini: Must start prioritising certain competitions

The Chilean is less than impressed that City have five more games to take in this month, with key contests approaching in the Premier League, FA Cup and UEFA Champions League.

City are due to take in a cup clash with Chelsea just three days before tackling Spanish heavyweights Barcelona in continental competition, offering them little time in which to rest and regroup.

Pellegrini concedes that he must now draw up a list of priorities, with the depth of his star-studded squad set to be tested to the full.

He said ahead of Saturday's trip to Norwich City: "If our clubs do well in the Champions League it is good for English football.

"So it's better for English football if those teams have the opportunity to play not so near to the Champions League games. In Spain they try to do it always. Also, here you must give importance to the cup.

"I have to decide which game will be more important, and maybe it's Barcelona. Maybe we will put an alternative team out against Chelsea."

Pellegrini added: "After we finish against Norwich, it is Sunderland. After that we have the FA Cup against Chelsea.

"It will be a very difficult game because we have to play on Tuesday against Barcelona and Chelsea don't have Champions League that week.

"We've got so many matches to play so it's very difficult.

"I don't know how you can work the calendar without one team having an advantage some weeks. I don't know if the word is fair. Of course there is an advantage for Chelsea and for Barcelona. For us it's a question of which game is more important.

"We have already had a difficult game against Chelsea with five players missing. But we have to try to do it as best we can."

irst Townsend, now Chiles. What next ITV? Comedy that you can actually watch without vomiting up your own spleen? I'll be sad to see Matt Smith go though. I actually quite like him. Plus, he was good in Doctor Who.

wful, awful pundit. He was crap on BBC, and offered a little more analysis than Robbie Savage - apart from the delivery of banality in a sexy accent. Also, as I'm Irish he'll never be more then a slimy, hand-balling f**ker in my eyes.
