Joleon Lescott: Determined to leave Man City as a winner

The England international has confirmed he will leave City at the end of the season when his contract expires with the club not offering him an extension.

The 31-year-old, who has already won the Premier League and FA Cup during his time at City, is determined to end his career at the Etihad on a high by winning all the honours on offer, with City well-placed in the league and through to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup ahead of Sunday's Capital One Cup final with Sunderland.

"We are going to be at Wembley for the Capital One Cup final and it's going to be a great occasion and I want to be part of it," said Lescott.

"That was something I thought about in staying and what we could achieve.

"If I can leave having won two league titles and a domestic treble this season, that would be perfect."

"I've known for a while that the club were not going to renew my contract, but not one performance has been altered by what has been going on with the contract. I just go out there and give 100 per cent.

"I could have gone in January, but I started the campaign and felt I've played enough games in competitions to warrant my place in the squad and some games in the team."

hould have stayed because we carried him for 6.5 years. And then he has a breakthrough season, and was gone soon after. MU fans, you would be as disgusted had C Ronaldo left in 2007 and not 2009.

ood grief. Someone guessed that the form English player at the moment might be in his national side with some other players? And that's espionage? Now if they discovered that Emile Heskey was going to be in the starting line up.... at right back.... THAT would be espionage. Give it a rest Roy.
