Fernandinho: Hoping to get the chance to impress in friendly

Kleberson was a member of the Brazilian starting side which beat Germany 2-0 in the final of the 2002 World Cup to lift the trophy under present national team boss Luiz Felipe Scolari.

At the start of his career, Manchester City star Fernandinho played with Kleberson at Brazilian club Atletico Paranaense and he hopes to follow in his footsteps.

Fernandinho said: "I played with Kleberson when I was starting my career, he was the player that inspired me the most, as his life story is very similar.

"We played at Atletico Paranaense and I had the dream of reaching the national team and win everything he won."

Fernandinho is determined to do his utmost to help lift the trophy on home soil and aims to push his claims for a starting berth in Friday's friendly against Serbia.

"I trained (on Wednesday), we have the friendly in Sao Paulo and I hope to play. I trained to be ready on Friday and to help the team."

e have the personnel. The trick is keeping them fit. Carrick and Blind have missed large chunks of the season, while the defence has been one muddled mess of intermittent stooges, all coming and going at various intervals thus far. We may be just short of title winning quality, but we're half way through. An injury crisis to either of the top two could change things. Optimistic, yes, but not unrealistic.

arish is the man to blame for this shambles. Pulis must be chuckling into his left over turkey sandwich. I pray this doesn't mean the Neil Warnock media machine will kick in now and he'll be back on the telly box.

e almost found a new way to lose, just when I thought it was getting boring Giroud does that. Although Arsenal are deservedly called 'soft' the entire midfield is out injured. Still must admit MU are managing to win despite a similar raft of absentees. Think the Gunners have good players but poorly coached.
