Tony Mowbray: Has praised the young strikers many attributes

The 20-year-old, who joined Boro on a free transfer from non-league Darlington, has scored in his last two games, including the winner against Leeds in midweek, after returning from a five-month injury lay-off.

Mowbray told the club's official website: "He came here on trial and trained with the youth team, and you could see the power and speed he's got.

"His finishing with both feet is breathtaking at times. Whether the ball drops to his right foot or left foot, he doesn't hesitate.

"He's got amazing qualities and yet he's such a young player, he doesn't know the game and hasn't really been educated about football and it's going to be a process for him.

"But he is potentially a really, really special talent."

Mowbray has also been impressed with Mustapha Carayol, telling the Evening Gazette: "Both Curtis and Muzzy have made an impact, I would have to say.

"Carayol's made an impact, he runs up the pitch, he gets balls in the box, he gets fans out of their seats.

"Good players win you football matches, I have always said that. People are screaming for me to get loan signings as if they know better and yet at some stage you have to trust your own players. I'm delighted for Curtis and delighted for Muzzy."
