Mowbray believes the Seagulls, who currently occupy the final npower Championship play-off place, play the kind of football which could be suited to the top flight, but is confident Boro can deal with them at the Riverside Stadium.

He told the club's official website: "Brighton are a good team. They are probably the most spread-out, passing team in the division.

"They try to play, in my opinion, the right way and if they did get to the Premier League, they would be better suited than some other teams above them - like Swansea - because their style of play is more suited.

"Are they a better team than us? I would have to say no. We played Hull last week and watching the game, you wouldn't know who was second and who were ninth."
