Hangeland's current contract expires at the end of the season and the Cottagers have been talking to him for some time about a possible extension.
Jol hopes to be given an update after Monday's match against Newcastle United and has no worries about losing the Norwegian.
"It only depends on a decision so if Brede says yes it is okay," the Fulham boss said. "If he says no, then we have to wait, talk and negotiate.
"I will ask Alistair [Mackintosh, chief executive officer] what the situation is after the game [against Newcastle] again.
"I am confident he will sign because he loves it here. He is a Fulham player.
"We took him from Scandinavia and I think he loves it here and we offered him a good contract."
Hangeland will return from suspension for the clash with the Magpies at Craven Cottage after being sent off against Sunderland.
