Brede Hangeland: Still to sign a new deal with Fulham

The 31-year-old has been an ever-present in the starting line-up since he moved to Craven Cottage five years ago, and is a big favourite of the Fulham fans.

Hangeland is one of a quartet of players out of contract at Craven Cottage, with Jol hoping to tie down Mark Schwarzer, Philippe Senderos and Giorgos Karagounis in the near future.

"We are talking to quite a few players," Jol said. "He is one of them. It's about him. But we are talking so it's a positive thing and he wants to stay here.

"That's good so there is no news now, but hopefully in the next couple of weeks."

Meanwhile, Jol has warned his team not to be complacent in case they are dragged into a relegation fight, with Fulham sitting eight points clear of the drop zone at the moment.

"If you look at the league over the last five or six years it's always the same situation," Jol added.

"There are three or four clubs near the bottom but you always see one or two clubs getting dragged in to it and we don't want to be one of those clubs."

s there a PR agency covering Begovich, Odemwingie, Steven Fletcher and Grant Holt or something? Why would you offer a quote like that without having been announced by either club. #headsshoulderskneesandtoesgone

adly this is inevitable. No club outside the top 4/5 can hang on to anyone who shows that kind of talent anymore. Might be best for them to get as much as they can now while his stock is high and start again. On the plus side lads, Grant Holt is still available.
