Madjid Bougherra: Currently playing in Qatar

The 30-year-old Algerian international defender is currently playing in Qatar with Lekhwiya - who he joined in 2011 from Rangers.

He helped Lekhwiya to the league title in his first year, but he is now being linked with a move to the Premier League this month.

A number of clubs are believed to be keeping tabs on Bougherra, with Wigan said to be amongst those checking on his situation.

The Latics have just lost Ivan Ramis to a long-term knee injury, so Roberto Martinez is looking to bolster his options.

Martinez had an interest in Bougherra before his move to the Middle East, but he could now return and offer him a route into the Premier League.
