Martinez coy on Wigan future

Roberto Martinez refused to be drawn on his future at Wigan after his side ended their eight-year stay in the Premier League with a dramatic 2-2 draw at home to Aston Villa.

Darren Bent took advantage of a rare start to put the visitors ahead but Emmerson Boyce levelled before an own goal from Nathan Baker just before half-time put the FA Cup winners ahead.

Wigan were pegged back on the hour mark by Ron Vlaar's brilliant volley, and that was the way it stayed.

Asked whether he will still be at the DW Stadium next season, he told Sky Sports: "No, it's not something is of the concern at the moment. We'll enjoy tomorrow and then we'll sit down with the chairman (Dave Whelan). The football club is in a fantastic position whatever happens.

"It's something to be looking forward to the future. Wigan Athletic is extremely bright and there will be great times ahead."

The Spaniard felt the draw epitomised his side's season - great going forward, but leaky at the back.

"It's not just going forward or defending, it's both boxes," he added. "For long spells we were dominant and our movement and attacking play was outstanding.

"The one shot they had on target they scored and that's why we are where we are.

"I'm just so proud and delighted that they've been able to show what they can show in the other tournament and winning the FA Cup is an incredible achievement.

"I think it was a reflection of why we haven't been able to get that consistency at the back.

"I thought we created enough chances to win the game comfortably, but clearly that was the sign of the season."

All Platini is doing is making billionaries pay measly fines, so he and his cronies can get rich. If a fool can pay 50 mil for David Luiz, he will happily pay some fine to UEFA. FFP has failed as for it to succeed UEFA had to take it...
