Ali Al Habsi: Set for surgery

Al Habsi had been hoping to feature for Oman in their crucial World Cup qualifiers, but he will not be unavailable.

However, it is believed that Al Habsi will be fit in time for the new season.

A statement released on behalf of Al Habsi read: "Ali Al Habsi, the Wigan and Omani international goalkeeper has suffered a re-occurrence of the shoulder injury sustained earlier in the season.

"He will be undergoing surgery immediately (Wed) to ensure his fitness for the start of next season and will therefore be unavailable for Oman's two World Cup qualifiers against Iraq and Jordan next month."
