Owen Coyle: Charged with the task of guiding Wigan back to the big time

Athletic, who tasted FA Cup success in 2012/13 but tumbled out of the top flight, will be hoping to get off to a flyer under new boss Owen Coyle - following his appointment as Roberto Martinez's successor.

Back-to-back away dates against Barnsley and newly-promoted Bournemouth are followed by three successive home fixtures against Doncaster, Middlesbrough and Nottingham Forest.

Coyle will take in a home date with north west rivals Blackburn Rovers on 5 October, before welcoming former employers Bolton Wanderers to Ewood Park on 14 December.

Wigan play host to Birmingham City on Boxing Day, before another of Coyle's former clubs, Burnley, make the short journey across Lancashire on 29 December.

The Latics will take in away dates at Queens Park Rangers and Bolton at the end of March, before heading for Turf Moor - where Coyle can expect a frosty reception - on 21 April.

Wigan will bring the curtain down on their season with a home date against Blackpool and a trip to Blackburn on 3rd May - the final weekend.

t's why Mourinho is so successful. He gives players a specific, limited set of functions to perform. They are but a cog in a machine. Do no more, do no less. I assume he learnt it from LvG :)

really hope that someone in the mainstream media spots that the Bayern manager played for and managed Barcelona quite well, and thinks to mention it in the build up. That would be really interesting.
