Thomas Rogne: Close to a move to Wigan on a free transfer

Rogne is out of contract at Celtic after turning down a new deal with the Scottish champions.

The 22-year-old Norway international started just eight SPL games for Celtic last season and he admitted he might have to leave in search of regular first-team football.

Wigan boss Owen Coyle is in the market for defensive reinforcements, after seeing Maynor Figueroa leave the club and with Antolin Alcaraz expected to depart this summer.

If Rogne comes through his medical without any problems, he is likely to become Coyle's second signing of the summer following the arrival of Chris McCann on a free transfer from Burnley.
