Grant Holt: Will see out the season at Villa Park

The 32-year-old striker is to see out the season at Villa Park after stepping up from Championship outfit Wigan Athletic.

Holt only joined the Latics last summer, as they negotiated a deal with Norwich City, but he struggled to get to grips with life at the DW Stadium.

Former Canaries boss Paul Lambert helped to get the best out of Holt during their time together at Carrow Road, and the Villa manager jumped at the chance to acquire the services of a proven marksman.

Holt is delighted to be back in the big time, having worked so hard to get to that level first time around, and hopes his second experience of life at the top table will stretch past the end of the current campaign - wherever that may be.

He said in the Daily Star: "Have I missed the Premier League? Well, you've got to miss it and everything that comes with it, haven't you?

"My aim is to come and score goals. I'm in the best shape of my life and I'd love to get out there against Liverpool (on Saturday).

"I've done it the hard way. It is tough and I know I harp on a bit, but young players these days don't realise just how tough it is down there.

"I always hoped it wasn't the last I'd seen of places like Anfield and Old Trafford because Wigan could get back up there and at the end of the season and I've still got two years left there, so who knows?"

e doesn't need a caoch. He needs a bus. A bloody big one, that he can park across the goal line. And when he gets one, he can do us a favour and let us know where we can buy one from as well.
