Watford continue push; Late winners for Blues, Owls and Robins

With just five games in the Championship as many clubs fulfilled their FA Cup obligations, Watford took advantage of the inactivity of those teams above them to move up to fourth in the table.

The Hornets won 3-0 at Nottingham Forest courtesy of a Troy Deeney goal and a brace from Matej Vydra to move within a point of Leicester in the second automatic promotion spot.

Elsewhere, Dean Saunders is still looking for his first win as Wolves boss after a 2-1 home defeat to Blackpool at Molineux.

Sylvan Ebanks-Blake had opened the scoring for the home side but Thomas Ince equalised just before the break following a defensive mix-up involving Roger Johnson.

And the Liverpool target stole the show with his second goal of the game in the 78th-minute with Johnson later completing a nightmare afternoon by being red carded late on.

Birmingham ended a sequence of three straight Championship wins for Burnley as they won 2-1 at Turf Moor.

Curtis Davies gave Blues the lead midway through the first half but Ross Wallace levelled things up from the penalty spot after the break.

Dean Marney was then sent off for the home side and it got even worse for Sean Dyche's team when Marlon King scored a 90th-minute winner for Lee Clark's men.

Like Burnley, Charlton also failed to make it four straight victories as struggling Sheffield Wednesday came from behind late on to win 2-1 at The Valley.

Johnnie Jackson's goal early in the second half looked like being enough for the Addicks but Reda Johnson equalised late on before Leroy Lita snatched an unlikely last-minute victory for the Owls.

Bristol City picked up a vital three points with a 2-1 win over Ipswich at Ashton Gate but remain bottom of the Championship.

It looked like being another disappointing day for their fans when Daryl Murphy put Mick McCarthy's men in front on the half-hour mark.

But Steven Davies equalised for the home side soon after the interval and Jon Stead found a last-gasp goal to turn the game on its head.

s there a PR agency covering Begovich, Odemwingie, Steven Fletcher and Grant Holt or something? Why would you offer a quote like that without having been announced by either club. #headsshoulderskneesandtoesgone

adly this is inevitable. No club outside the top 4/5 can hang on to anyone who shows that kind of talent anymore. Might be best for them to get as much as they can now while his stock is high and start again. On the plus side lads, Grant Holt is still available.
