Blackburn into bottom three as Hull boost promotion hopes

Blackburn Rovers slumped into the Championship relegation zone after losing at fellow strugglers Sheffield Wednesday, while Cardiff City and Hull City kept up their push for a return to the Premier League.

Huddersfield Town climbed out of the bottom three despite twice letting the lead slip against Peterborough United, while there were important wins for Charlton Athletic and Ipswich Town.

Play-off contenders Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest and Brighton & Hove Albion were all held at home as Bolton Wanderers saw off Wolves.

Leaders Cardiff moved a step closer to a place in the top flight after scrapping for a 0-0 draw away to third-placed Watford. Malky Mackay's side remain eight points ahead of Watford and have a game in hand.

Jermaine Johnson netted a goal in each half as Sheffield Wednesday battled to a crucial 3-2 victory over Blackburn at Hillsborough as the visitors dropped into the relegation zone.

Dwight Gayle scored an 86th minute equaliser as Peterborough twice came from behind to draw 2-2 at relegation rivals Huddersfield, who moved out of the bottom three with the point.

Bristol City look destined for the drop after throwing away a first-half lead to lose 3-1 at Burnley and Sean O'Driscoll's team are now eight points from safety.

Robbie Brady's 62nd minute goal was enough to help Hull City beat Middlesbrough 1-0 at the KC Stadium to keep Steve Bruce's men on course for automatic promotion.

Crystal Palace now look likely to have to settle for a play-off spot after a 0-0 draw at home with lowly Barnsley left Ian Holloway's side eight points adrift of Hull.

Kazenga LuaLua scored an 88th minute equaliser to ensure Brighton stayed in sixth spot following a 1-1 draw at home with seventh-placed Leicester City.

Lewis McGugan converted an 81st minute penalty as Nottingham Forest hit back to pinch a 1-1 draw at home with 10-man Blackpool, who had taken the lead through Ludovic Sylvestre before having Isaiah Osbourne sent off.

Bolton kept their hopes of sneaking into the play-offs alive after goals inside the opening 10 minutes from David Ngog and Marcos Alonso secured a 2-0 home win over Wolves.

Jonathan Obika pounced in the last minute to give Charlton a 2-1 home triumph over Leeds in a result which saw Chris Powell's side leapfrog their opponents in the table.

Carlos Edwards struck a 90th minute winner to boost Ipswich's survival prospects after a 1-0 success at Derby County, who saw Jamie Ward's first-half penalty saved.

Millwall inched a point closer to guaranteeing survival after Chris Taylor's 70th minute equaliser claimed a 1-1 draw at Birmingham City.

ven if United were to sign CR7 & Messi to play upfront, the fact remains Fletcher and Cleverly are playing in midfield. That's where the problem is. Fletcher is too slow with an awful pass, while Cleverly is simply rubbish
