Alou Diarra: West Ham United midfielder is closing on a return to action

Collison has been sidelined since May because of his troublesome knee problem, while Diarra has been restricted to just two appearances due to a thigh strain, but both are closing on full fitness.

The Hammers are in need of reinforcements as their squad is also without Mohamed Diame, Ricardo Vaz Te, Andy Carroll, and Yossi Benayoun, who are all sidelined through injury.

Diame is the most recent arrival in the treatment room as he suffered a hamstring problem in Sunday's 3-2 defeat by Liverpool.

Allardyce told the Daily Mirror: "Diarra is close, but he hasn't played a Premier League game yet.

"He hasn't felt what it is like to play there and that would be difficult after a three-month lay-off.

"Collison might be close to start joining in again over the next few weeks."

m starting to think Roman may never actually be happy at the top level. If he wants all conquering fancy football I wonder if he'd be better off buying a lower division side then paying outlandish salaries to attract high caliber players too good for the division.

afa has to be favourite for the Everton job now, surely :) He'll realise his ambition to live and work on Merseyside again, get the best out of whoever plays for them, maybe win some cups and be thoroughly loathed by the toffee fans. What's not to like? Go ead, Ken, gimajob!

hat is arguably the least inspiring England I have ever seen. There is not a single name in that list that makes me think I might actually want to watch this team. Not a one.
