The Emirates Stadium will be empty on Boxing Day

London Underground drivers are to stage three strikes in a dispute over Bank Holiday pay, with the first planned for 26 December.

And with travel chaos almost certain to ensue, the Gunners have taken the decision to call off the clash with their London rivals.

A statement on the club's official website read: "As a result of Monday's strike ballot and the proposed industrial action on London Underground on Boxing Day, Arsenal's Premier League match against West Ham United at Emirates Stadium, originally planned for Wednesday, December 26, has been postponed.

"This decision has been made now, due to the preparation period needed to safely operate Emirates Stadium by all the relevant agencies.

"The paramount concern was always the duty of care towards the Arsenal supporters, West Ham United supporters, matchday employees and workers and indeed everyone who was planning to attend the game on Boxing Day."

The Premier League fixture has yet to be rearranged but will be played on either Wednesday 23 January or Saturday 26 January depending on both clubs' involvement in the FA Cup.

ven if United were to sign CR7 & Messi to play upfront, the fact remains Fletcher and Cleverly are playing in midfield. That's where the problem is. Fletcher is too slow with an awful pass, while Cleverly is simply rubbish
