Kevin Nolan: West Ham captain set for spell on sidelines

The captain collided with Mousa Dembele during the first half of the 3-2 defeat, exacerbating a long-standing problem.

Nolan is out of this weekend's trip to Stoke and will instead undergo intensive treatment, but it is not yet known how long he faces on the sidelines.

West Ham assistant manager Neil McDonald said: "His toe's very, very sore. He's had problems in the past with it - all season really - and he got a really good kick on it.

"I'd imagine he'll not be available for Saturday and we'll see how the results come back and we'll see where he's at.

"He has been playing through the pain barrier. We'll assess it in the next couple of days."

West Ham have 15 days between the visit to the Britannia and their next game - away at Chelsea on 17 March.

Manchester United's continued involvement in the FA Cup means their trip to east London - originally scheduled for 9 March - has been postponed.

S

till reckon Chelsea will go for Khedira as back up for Matic. I think it will turn out to be quite a Mourihno-y window: We'll see the squad players and youth in action pre-season, say things like well, we need not buy anybody and then the club will bid £60m for Pogba and send everybody on loan.

would love to be a fly on the wall at the meeting between Milner and Rodgers. I don't know if flies can count, but if they can then I would be counting the number of times Rodgers used the word outstanding in his attempts to get Milner to sign.

Reds and Arsenal chase Milner

W

ell, it wouldn't be a summer without Arsenal fans fretting over losing a key player, and United throwing their weight around and muscling in on transfer deals which are (apparently) near to completion. If we can't be entertained by the football on the pitch, let's enjoy the silly off-pitch soap opera of the transfer season. Hurrah!
