Jonathan Bond: Hoping for Watford improvement

The Hornets, play-off finalists last season, are enduring their toughest spell since Gianfranco Zola took charge having gone eight games without a win in the Championship.

But a midweek draw at high-flying Burnley was followed up with another creditable point at Leeds on Saturday, leaving Watford in 12th place - six points off the play-offs.

And Bond, who has stepped in for the sidelined Manuel Almunia of late, feels five games in two-and-a-half weeks over Christmas and new year provide an opportunity to kickstart a renewed promotion push - starting at home to Sheffield Wednesday this weekend.

"Burnley away was a difficult game, they were top of the league and we got a point there, and we've got a decent point at Leeds," he told Watford's official website.

"These aren't bad results, especially the way it's been going for us at the moment.

"They're two positive results and we're coming into an important period now, so we'll try and get maximum points and use this Christmas period to get some momentum for the rest of the season."

s it the same people that complain about Chelsea that complain about Mayweather? You should by now know what to expect from both, if you can't appreciate how good they are at nullifying their opponents then don't watch them.

do concede though, that getting rid of Luiz has made them less entertaining. In the same way that driving with both eyes open is less exciting, but probably a good idea.
