Neil Redfearn: Sees bright future for Leeds under Brian McDermott

McDermott was appointed 11 days ago and has since secured the Whites' Championship status for another season following back-to-back wins.

Redfearn, who took caretaker charge prior to McDermott's arrival and will continue to work with the senior squad next season, believes everything is in place for a successful campaign next term.

"The building blocks are there. It was a continuation of the progress from the Sheffield Wednesday and Burnley games. If the blocks are in place you are going to win more than you are going to lose," he told the club's official website.

"Brian has only just come in and his reign is still in its infancy and he is looking to put his own ethos into it.

"The team will progress to the level that we want them at but the most important thing is that the building blocks are in place. The basics of how we want the team to play, how to play from the back, through midfield and defend and recover."

He added: "It's impossible to change overnight but the reaction from the players has been first class.

"They are enjoying what they are doing, they are having the ball and are prepared to play. They are buying into everything that has been put to them and we can't ask for any more than that."

he uber commercialisation of the 90s has led to the point where this overly familar, try hard, jolly hockey sticks type fronts up a major football match on a weekly basis. Unlike the great presenters of yesteryear, I doubt he would even recognise the scent of Brut.
