McCarthy eyes play-off place

Ipswich manager Mick McCarthy has set a target of at least reaching the play-offs next season.

It has been a great season for McCarthy since taking over at Ipswich, having steered the club away from trouble.

They were bottom of the Championship with just one win from 13 games when he was appointed at the beginning of November, but they have since won 15 of their 32 games and go in to the last game of the season in 11th place.

McCarthy is also relieved his team will not have to worry about relegation on the last day.

"I wonder if one or two people were questioning my ability, whether that is right or wrong that is my thought," he told Sky Sports News.

"I imagine that since November I have repaired that a bit if people thought that way."

Speaking about his ambitions for next season, he has his eyes on the top end of the table.

"I want to be competing at least for the play-offs, we have got a good base," he said.

"The majority of them who have been playing recently will still be here, but there are some who have been on loan who won't be and will go back so I have to replace them and get the right signings so we can compete."

All Platini is doing is making billionaries pay measly fines, so he and his cronies can get rich. If a fool can pay 50 mil for David Luiz, he will happily pay some fine to UEFA. FFP has failed as for it to succeed UEFA had to take it...
