The 34-year-old was offered a deal following promotion from League One and has now committed his future ahead of the Cherries' return to pre-season training.

"I'm really pleased. It's been going on over the summer but there was never any doubt I wasn't going to sign," he told the club's official website.

"I love it here and I've felt at home ever since I came here. There's a great set of lads, the staff are fantastic and the manager has been brilliant with me, so I'm delighted to be here and hopefully I can stay for a number of years.

"When you see the way the club is going, it's really exciting and everyone wants to be part of that."

ah, Fergie is just having another pop at Rooney. He just wants to put him down whenever he gets a chance. Rooney is by far the best English player. Carrick is not far behind, mind. However, by elevating Carrick like that, Sir is having a dig at Wayne. Fergie is well-known for mind games like that. Good to see he's still feisty.
