Aaron Cresswell: Wanted by Wigan

The 23-year-old is rated very highly, but he is believed to be keen on a return to his North West roots.

Ipswich signed Cresswell from Tranmere in 2011 on a three-year deal and he has become a key performer after being the only player last season to play every minute for Town.

But relegated Wigan are looking to rebuild under Owen Coyle and are backing their new manager with funds, some of which he is hoping to use on Cresswell.

Sky Sports understands that Wigan are now lining up an approach and are hopeful of concluding a deal.

xcellent! Not sure if he is any good as a manager (never thought about it) but the 'headbutt in the technical area' and what he said to Pelligrini were just brilliant, it was as if he was trying to recreate the end of the Alan Partridge Xmas special when Alan punched a man in a wheelchair and verbally abused Tony Heirs.
