Chris Baird: Northern Ireland international hoping for extended Reading deal

The 31-year-old Northern Ireland international joined the Royals on an initial four-month contract after leaving Fulham in the summer.

Baird has started five games since joining the Championship side, but he admits he is yet to learn whether he has a future at the Madejski Stadium.

"It's been a great start for me here," said Baird. "I'm playing football and that's the main thing.

"I'm really enjoying it and hopefully that can continue.

"I'm happy here and we're getting results. If the club wants to speak to me then I'll listen.

"So up until January, I'll keep doing what I can for Reading and we'll see what happens.

"At the end of the day it's down to the club. I'm very grateful to them for letting me come here.

"It's been great so far. All the players and staff have made me really welcome."

ooray! We are all excited now, we beat a very mediocre team! With all due respect to WHU supporters, not winning that game shouldn't even be a consideration. This is the problem, there is no winning mentality at the Emirates - we're all congratulating ourselves beating a team that we have a winning record against.

I

s this meant to be an aspiration for United supporters? Moyes mediocrity strikes again. I see the Bayern boys don't want to sign for him, and his reputation amongst the senior European coaches make other key signings unlikely.

'Tactically Inept And Lacking In Belief And Style'

It's fair to say that the 'Moyes Out' brigade is understandably out in force, whilst there are also staunch defences of Mourinho and Arteta. Plus, Liverpool fans can almost taste it.
