Craig Cathcart: Knee injury has left Blackpool short at the back

The Seasiders' squad is suddenly looking thin on the ground, with suspensions and injuries hitting hard.

Jack Robinson must serve a ban for the red card he picked up against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday, while Craig Cathcart has been laid low with a knee complaint.

With Blackpool having kept three clean sheets in their last four outings, maintaining momentum is crucial.

They may, however, have to draft fresh faces into their ranks if they are to keep their Championship promotion push on track.

Rae told the Blackpool Gazette: "We might have to have a look at the loan market as we are becoming a bit fragmented.

"Isiah Osbourne is out injured too, so we are maybe a little bit short.

"We are starting to be a little bit threadbare in a defensive area.

"Hopefully the chairman is in a good mood this week!"

On Cathcart's injury, Rae revealed that the Northern Ireland international may be forced to undergo surgery.

He added: "It looks as if he's nicked his cartilage.

"It looks like he might need some work on that. Whether he needs an operation or if he'll just let it heal, we aren't too sure about yet."

e have the personnel. The trick is keeping them fit. Carrick and Blind have missed large chunks of the season, while the defence has been one muddled mess of intermittent stooges, all coming and going at various intervals thus far. We may be just short of title winning quality, but we're half way through. An injury crisis to either of the top two could change things. Optimistic, yes, but not unrealistic.

arish is the man to blame for this shambles. Pulis must be chuckling into his left over turkey sandwich. I pray this doesn't mean the Neil Warnock media machine will kick in now and he'll be back on the telly box.

e almost found a new way to lose, just when I thought it was getting boring Giroud does that. Although Arsenal are deservedly called 'soft' the entire midfield is out injured. Still must admit MU are managing to win despite a similar raft of absentees. Think the Gunners have good players but poorly coached.
