Nahki Wells: Has stepped up into the Championship with Huddersfield

Having forged quite a name for himself during three years at local rivals Bradford City, the highly-rated striker was expected to step up the Football League ladder in January.

Numerous Championship sides were said to have placed the 23-year-old towards the top of their winter wish list.

It was, however, to be Huddersfield who broke their transfer record to bring the Bermudan on board.

The £2million frontman made the best possible start to his Terriers career on Saturday as he netted a debut winner against Millwall, and Wells believes he has made the right call.

"This is a big step up for me and the most important thing is that I've come here ready to learn and get better," he told the club's official website.

"I know my strengths and weaknesses and one of my strengths is scoring goals. Luckily a chance dropped to me.

"I'm coming into a side that plays 'total football', passing the football a lot.

"This means that a lot of my habits will have to be broken. I prefer to play off the shoulder, but a lot of the time I will have to come and link up play and get involved with the game in order to fit into this team.

"That will come with time, because I'm confident that my hard work will see this happen."

Responding to suggestions that he has gone more sideways than upwards, Wells added: "I didn't want to take the wrong opportunity and hinder my success.

"I've come to a club where the manager has a lot of faith in me and he believes in what I have to offer."

t's wrong to be making a joke out of Bender's name at the expense of gay people. It's the kind of childish, uncivilised thing that Football365 would deride and ridicule if it was another media outlet saying. Why is there a need for jokes like this? Does it make your writers feel like men? F365 might suggest that I 'lighten up', but it is genuinely traumatic for people who have been oppressed all their lives to be the butt of jokes, and to be told...

ou can't blame De Gea for wanting to leave, he has enough to do in front of goal as it is as well as taking on the role of Man Utd's version of Derek Acorah in trying to contact and organise a defence that isn't there.
