Stephane Sessegnon: Aware of how important it is for Sunderland to start picking

With the Black Cats having taken just five points from the last 21 on offer, it is vital that they find a way of turning the corner.

A home date with rock-bottom and winless QPR would appear, on paper, to offer an ideal opportunity to start rebuilding morale, even if the visitors to the Stadium of Light will be taking in their first fixture under the guidance of new boss Harry Redknapp.

Sessegnon is aware of how important it is for Sunderland to ruin Redknapp's big day, with it his opinion that nothing less than three points will do against a fellow Premier League struggler.

"We must win," he said in the Evening Chronicle.

"It's hugely important that we get a win tomorrow because it's another chance for us here. We know it's going to be difficult against a team fighting at the bottom of the table, but it's clear we need to get some wins and pick up some points.

"It's never easy against a team with a new manager. They're a team who wouldn't have expected to be at the bottom at the start of the season.

"They will feel they are capable of much better and I'm sure they'll be boosted by a new manager. But, at the same time, we've got to be confident that we can get a victory after the disappointment of Saturday (a 4-2 defeat to West Bromwich Albion)."
