Spurs will compete against South China FC, Manchester City, and Sunderland for the Barclays Asia Trophy, which will take place between 24-27 July in the former British colony.

The north London club were involved in the tournament four years ago, beating Hull City 3-0 in the final with goals from Robbie Keane (2) and Aaron Lennon.

Andre Villas-Boas said: "The club is delighted to have the opportunity to return to Hong Kong and play in the 2013 Barclays Asia Trophy.

"Over the past few years, we have seen a significant increase in the levels of support the club has across the region.

"This tournament presents us with an opportunity to thank those fans, as well as introducing new fans to Tottenham Hotspur."

It will be City's second successive pre-season trip to the Far East after touring China and Malaysia last year and Roberto Mancini said: "It gives us the opportunity to showcase the club's footballing talent to our supporters in Hong Kong, which is such a vibrant venue to host a high quality tournament like this."

Sunderland manager Martin O'Neill was equally enthused, adding: "The stature and prestige of the event is such that, when invited, we readily accepted."
