Paolo Di Canio: Sunderland welcome Fulham on the opening day

Their first away trip sees them travel to Southampton before hosting tough ties against Arsenal and Liverpool in the space of two weeks in September.

They welcome the reigning champions Manchester United to the Stadium of Light on 5 October.

Paolo Di Canio will get his first taste of a Tyne-Wear derby at the Stadium of Light when Newcastle make the short trip on 26 October.

Di Canio's side then face Everton at Goodison Park on Boxing Day followed by an away tie against Premier League new boys Cardiff two days later, while New Year's Day will see them host Aston Villa.

The return derby against Newcastle will take place at St James' Park on 1 February before they end the season at home to Swansea.
