Ben Foster: Back in action within weeks despite surgery

The 29-year-old goalkeeper missed the victory at Wigan at the weekend in order to have surgery on a groin problem.

But Baggies boss Steve Clarke played down the severity of the problem and stressed that it is all part of life as a footballer.

"Ben had a very minor surgical procedure to repair something," said Clarke, quoted in the Daily Mirror.

"Players put their bodies on the line and that's part and parcel of being a professional footballer.

"Sometimes you have to play with little injuries, which they do, and we have great help from our medical staff who play their part really well."

Although Boaz Myhill is likely to deputise again for Saturday's home clash with Chelsea, Foster should be back for the trip to Sunderland on November 24.
