Football League hopefuls setting their sights on round four

Tuesday brings nine FA Cup third round replays, with four Premier League sides eager to avoid suffering upsets against lower league opponents.

Elsewhere, there is an all top-flight affair at The Hawthorns, a Championship battle at St Andrew's and another opportunity for Blackpool's caretaker coaching team to stake a claim for taking the reins on a full-time basis.

West Brom and Queens Park Rangers have seen plenty of each other of late, with two Premier League rivals set to meet for the third time in as many weeks - and for the fourth time this season.

Birmingham continue to struggle in the league and will welcome the distraction of a cup clash with Leeds - with a home date against Tottenham awaiting the winner in round four.

There is also plenty of fourth round incentive for League One side Brentford and League Two hopefuls Southend, with Chelsea set to pay a visit to the victors at the next stage.

Bournemouth are another third tier side in action on Tuesday, with Eddie Howe's men set to welcome Premier League strugglers Wigan to the South Coast.

Leyton Orient are also representing League One at the third round stage and they will be looking to claim the notable scalp of Championship promotion chasers Hull City.

MK Dons and Sheffield Wednesday will consider their efforts in their respective divisions to be of greater importance than a cup run, but neither will want to crash out in midweek.

Crystal Palace will be looking to topple top-flight opposition when they travel to Stoke, while Bolton will be hoping to do the same when they go Sunderland.

Finally, Steve Thompson will lead managerless Blackpool into battle once again, and a victory over Fulham at Bloomfield Road would make him a serious contender to secure a more permanent post.
