Zoltan Gera: Closing on a return to fitness following injury nightmare

The midfielder recently agreed a new one-year contract at The Hawthorns, having technically become a free agent at the end of the 2012/13 campaign.

He is delighted to have been offered the opportunity to prolong his career with the Baggies and is determined to repay the faith shown in him.

It has been a frustrating couple of years for Gera, who is now in his second spell with West Brom.

Knee injuries have severely restricted his playing time, but the 34-year-old is edging closer to full match fitness and hopes he will soon be back in Steve Clarke's thoughts.

Gera posted on his Facebook account: "It's a super feeling (to be back in training). I have been looking forward to this day for a long time. I had surgery exactly seven months ago.

"I hope I'll be ready to play in three to four weeks, but I won't hurry."

was there, it was embarrassing - the team looked totally unbalanced from the off, the defence was woeful and when Mikel came off injured it got even worse with nobody in front of them. Up front on several occasions we had opportunities and nobody would shoot - it was a complete farse! On the back of Salah's performance I'm glad there is talk of getting shot...

reat to see Tommy Rosicky getting some love. A wonderful player. Such a pity we lost so long to injury. I was so excited when we signed him, this resurgence only makes the absences seem more of a lost opportunity.
