Long was linked with a move to the KC Stadium that would have seen the club break their transfer record for the second time this summer.

But that deal was not completed in time for the 11pm deadline and Long stays with West Brom, where he will compete with Nicolas Anelka and new signing Victor Anichebe for playing time.

However Steve Bruce was able to bring in forward reinforcements in the shape of Al Ahly's Egypt international Gedo, who spent a spell with the club last season.

The 28-year-old joined the Tigers in January and scored five goals in his 12 appearances before a foot injury cut short his stay.
