Former Wolves boss Stale Solbakken has pointed the finger of blame at owner Steve Morgan for the club's struggles.

Stale Solbakken: Lasted just six months in charge at Molineux

The men from Molineux are facing up to the very realistic threat of back-to-back relegations, with a last-day miracle required to keep them in the Championship.

Solbakken was drafted in as manager last summer and charged with the task of bouncing the club back into the Premier League at the first time of asking.

He was, however, to last just six months before being replaced by Dean Saunders.

Saunders is Wolves' fourth boss in the space of 16 hectic months, and Solbakken believes Morgan's reluctance to work long-term has ended up costing the club dear.

He said: "I have no confidence in the owner.

"Morgan hired me because he wanted to build a new culture, create a new identity and make sure the club wasn't ridiculed if given another chance in the Premier League.

"It was surprising that he thought this would be done in 15 minutes.

"My intention was to build a team over three transfer windows, but he got tired and went back to the previous culture."

resumably, you wanted to keep the version of Downing that was never seen at Anfield. The one that another manager has managed to re-create. The one you passed over.

he uber commercialisation of the 90s has led to the point where this overly familar, try hard, jolly hockey sticks type fronts up a major football match on a weekly basis. Unlike the great presenters of yesteryear, I doubt he would even recognise the scent of Brut.
