Kenny Jackett: Sees his Wolves getting better

Wolves made it seven wins from their last eight league games thanks to Leigh Griffiths' fifth goal of the season in the 66th minute and Bakary Sako's injury time strike as luckless United slipped to a sixth successive league defeat - and the bottom of the table.

Jackett, whose side rode their luck in the first half, said: "We feel that there is a lot more to come, there is a lot of improvement.

"We do feel that we are getting there slowly. I felt that we defended very well in the first-half when we needed to and that gave us a good platform. It is the prerequisite of a good side to hang in there.

"The goalkeeper and the back four have looked very solid for us and if you can't play well all of the time you have to stay in games and defend and we did that in the first-half.

"They were two excellent goals that we scored in what I felt was a dominant second-half performance.

"We stepped it up and we improved and the introduction of Kevin Doyle at half-time gave us a platform to play off."

Wolves sit third in the table - three points behind leaders Leyton Orient with Jackett admitting they need to stay in the leading pack.

"This is a very good league and it is tough for the big clubs," added the former Millwall boss. "The top of the division has set off at a hell of a pace.

"But defensively we feel we are in a good place as the goals against column does give you a platform to work off and that is a big contribution to where we are in the league."
