Kenny Jackett: Aiming to keep hold of top spot

Bakary Sako's 51st minute opener and two goals in two minutes from Nouha Dicko earned Wolves a seventh straight win - one short of equalling the club record for successive victories.

Jackett said: "It is in our own hands now and and we are pleased with that. "You are looking at the other results around us and there is not a lot of let up with good wins for Orient, Preston and Rotherham and Brentford are the ones who have drawn.

"We have to keep playing well and winning. There is no option to slacken up.

"Our aim is to stay top of the table. We want to and we have put ourselves in a good position. It is up to us. But we are not talking about a big gap or a lot of breathing space up there.

"We have to keep out foot to the accelerator as we go through a busy March. But I want to stress as well that this is an exciting period. It is not something that we should be frightened of. But we shouldn't underestimate it either.

"For us we have to try and get as many points as we can in this busy period.

"It is something we should embrace and see as a great challenge and a great opportunity to hopefully turn this into a terrific period for the club."

Jackett was pleased with the way his side saw off Vale and he added: "It was an excellent win. In the second half we were more ruthless and worked their keeper.

"Winning these last seven games is a good achievement and at the right time of the season as well.

"We have really needed that to make sure that the players believe and most importantly the crowd as well as they were terrific.

"We need the supporters to be as positive as they were here and hopefully we can keep delivering results."
