Artur Boruc: Wants Saints to maintain momentum

After a steady start to the season, Saints ended Liverpool's unbeaten Premier League record with a 1-0 victory on Saturday, with centre-back Dejan Lovren scoring the only goal of the game at Anfield.

Boruc helped earn all three points with a stunning save from Steven Gerrard's free-kick and, later on, pushed Victor Moses' effort behind.

It also ensured the 33-year-old Pole claimed his third clean sheet in five outings this season.

He is unlikely to be given a chance to make it four on Tuesday, with Pochettino likely to rotate his squad for the Capital One Cup tie at home to Bristol City.

Kelvin Davis was given a run out in the last round against Barnsley but whoever plays, Boruc says maintaining momentum is important.

"These kind of games build your confidence, both at the back and at the front," he told Saints Player.

"To win at Anfield is a big thing for us, and hopefully we'll keep that going. This shows how good a team we are.

"We're getting stronger. Every single game is going to be a big one for us, and we've got a couple of new players in the team now so we're going to get even better."

Boruc was less keen to talk up his own contribution to the Liverpool success, but admitted that another clean sheet was important.

"That's my job - that's what I should do in every single game," Boruc said.

"I'm quite pleased with my performance, especially with the clean sheet, and I'm really, really pleased with our performance at the back.

"We've kept clean sheets in three of the five (Premier League) games, which is a good thing for us."

Match-winner Lovren is also likely to be rested against City and he says he was delighted with the events of Saturday afternoon.

"I think I have played some good games and I did well (against Liverpool) but I can do much better," said the defender.

"Every time it is a big moment if you score a goal, especially at Anfield but the goal is not important, what is important is three points.

"We deserved this win. Hopefully we will do the same and win the next game."
