Crouch still happy at Stoke

Peter Crouch has admitted he was tempted when Queens Park Rangers tried to sign him last month but he had no problem with staying at Stoke City.

QPR boss Harry Redknapp had been keen to recruit the striker for the fifth time in his career, having previously worked with him at Southampton, Tottenham and in two different spells with Portsmouth.

Crouch was flattered by Redknapp's interest and also holds the Loftus Road club very close to his heart, but Stoke rejected their approach and he insists he remains fully committed to the Potters.

Speaking about Redknapp, Crouch told Sky Sports News: "Everyone knows that I have got a good relationship with him.

"I think he is a fantastic manager and QPR are a club that are very close to my heart.

"That is where I grew up really and where my family are, but it didn't materialise and I am very happy to be at Stoke."

Meanwhile, Crouch has insisted that he remains proud of his England career and says it was a misunderstanding that prompted Roy Hodgson to say that he was not prepared to be included on a standby list for Euro 2012.

"I was part of the England squad for five years and I don't think I missed a squad," said Crouch.

"If I wasn't going to the Euros I didn't think there was much point in me going to the friendly. It wasn't a case of making myself unavailable, it was just a suggestion.

"Of course, playing for my country is the best thing I have ever done and it will remain to be so."

m starting to think Roman may never actually be happy at the top level. If he wants all conquering fancy football I wonder if he'd be better off buying a lower division side then paying outlandish salaries to attract high caliber players too good for the division.
