Wilson Palacios: Lay-off after a "minor surgical procedure"

The Honduras international was named in manager Mark Hughes' starting line-up and took part in the pre-match warm-up at Anfield before he was withdrawn from the team and replaced by Marc Wilson.

At the time Stoke said Palacios was ill.

A later statement posted on the club's official website read: "Stoke City can confirm that Wilson Palacios was taken to hospital in Liverpool after an incident occurred in the pre-match warm-up which required immediate medical attention.

"Wilson has successfully undergone a minor surgical procedure from which he is now recovering from and is likely to be sidelined for a few weeks."
