Erik Pieters: Stoke defender has denied he went down too easily

Pieters came under fire after going down in an off-the-ball incident with Kasami during Stoke's 1-0 defeat at Craven Cottage last weekend.

Dutch international Pieters has defended his actions and is adamant that Kasami should have been dismissed for the incident.

"It was a red card, because he hit me in the face," Pieters told the Stoke Sentinel.

"There was contact, no question for me, and I am not going down on the ground for nothing."

Pieters joined Stoke from PSV Eindhoven in the summer and he insists he has no regrets about leaving Holland for England

"Last year I had a hard season and had to make a choice whether to stay in Holland or make a transfer," added Pieters.

"I came here and it is really good to play and be on the pitch every week."
