Stephen Ireland: Insists Stoke will continue to work hard

Defeat at Ireland's former club Manchester City last weekend left Stoke 15th in the Premier League, just three points above the bottom three.

But Mark Hughes' men had been unbeaten in three games prior to the 1-0 loss and with 10th-placed West Ham only four points above them, the situation can soon turn in their favour.

Ireland said: "It's tight and some results have gone against us but I think we are fine.

"We have a good squad, we know what direction we want to go in.

"We are going to work hard. We have got a lot of teams coming up that are in similar positions to us. We need to overcome them.

"It is going to be an interesting end to the season, I think."

e're our own worst enemy. We're suicidal in defence, and we may just get slaughtered on Sunday. Other than that, I am very pleased with my team.
