Glenn Loovens: Worked well with Roger Johnson at Cardiff

The two centre-halves enjoyed a fruitful partnership together at Cardiff where, under former manager Dave Jones, they were regularly at the top end of the Sky Bet Championship.

The pair are back together at Hillsborough now, both brought to the club by Jones, and although their former boss is no longer there, they have been an important factor in Wednesday's mini-revival.

"I played with Roger for two years at Cardiff and we did well," Loovens said. "We both have a lot of experience so we can help each other and help others in the team."

Loovens is currently on a short-term deal with the Owls, which ends at the end of this month, but after a long period out of the game with an injury, he is enjoying being back on the pitch.

"I've been out for a long time so it was always tough keeping up with my fitness," he added. "I am glad I have played three 90-minute games, I haven't trained a lot, but I can't complain too much."

ooray! We are all excited now, we beat a very mediocre team! With all due respect to WHU supporters, not winning that game shouldn't even be a consideration. This is the problem, there is no winning mentality at the Emirates - we're all congratulating ourselves beating a team that we have a winning record against.

Wenger hails important win

I

s this meant to be an aspiration for United supporters? Moyes mediocrity strikes again. I see the Bayern boys don't want to sign for him, and his reputation amongst the senior European coaches make other key signings unlikely.
