Wolves facing the drop, Brighton secure play-off place

Wolverhampton Wanderers will go into the final weekend of the season knowing even a win might not save them from relegation after Barnsley made Hull City wait for promotion.

Elsewhere, Ipswich Town and Blackpool secured survival while Huddersfield Town are almost safe, and Middlesbrough staged a fightback to rescue some pride in mid-table.

Brighton & Hove Albion booked their play-off place but Bolton Wanderers' top-six hopes remain in the balance while Crystal Palace's winless run continued to mean Nottingham Forest still have hope of reaching the Premier League.

Dean Saunders' Wolves are facing up to the threat of relegation after a 2-1 defeat by Burnley, who had Michael Duff sent off, at Molineux, with Danny Ings and Martin Paterson scoring the goals, and they will now rely on goal difference if they are to survive.

Wolves' plight was made all the worse after Barnsley, who had started the day a place below Saunders' side, produced a shock 2-0 win which put Hull's promotion party on ice.

Peterborough United ensured their fate is still in their own hands after Grant McCann's 64th minute goal secured a 1-0 home win over Sheffield Wednesday, who are only a point outside the bottom three.

Ipswich are now safe from relegation after a 3-1 win over Birmingham at Portman Road, where Carlos Edwards, Luke Chambers and Daryl Murphy were on target.

Blackpool got the win they needed to secure survival as Gary Taylor-Fletcher and a last-gasp Ludovic Sylvestre scored in a 2-1 win over Derby County at Bloomfield Road.

A 3-1 victory against already-relegated Bristol City edged Huddersfield closer to Championship football next season after James Vaughan scored twice in the first 13 minutes.

Bolton will play their last match of the season by clinging to a place in the top six after a 1-1 draw with champions Cardiff in Wales.

A bad-tempered 2-1 win over Leeds United at Elland Road meant Brighton booked a play-off place in a game in which Rodolph Austin, Inigo Calderon and El-Hadji Diouf were all sent off.

Nottingham Forest can still reach the play-offs following a 1-0 win at Millwall, with Greg Halford scoring the only goal of the game in the eighth minute to leave them level on 67 points with Bolton.

Crystal Palace's winless run stretched to eight matches at the wrong time of the season as they were pegged back by Blackburn Rovers in a 1-1 draw to leave them just one point better off than Bolton and Forest.

Middlesbrough rescued some pride in their poor second half of the season after coming back from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Charlton Athletic at The Riverside.

m only commenting on this (I don't care about Liverpool) because F365's twitter said I had call Matt Stanger a tw*t (which I don't agree with anyway) but I just wanted to be the first. Am I the first?

Trial And Error Rather Than Transition

S

unday, Sunday. Will there be a fan of either team, who if they are winning after 80 mins, won't still be nervous? This could be anything from 0-0 to 5-5, and no one would bat an eye.
