Brazilian midfielder Moritz stole the show with two sublime set-piece goals that headlined an all-round display Holloway was delighted with.

"The free kicks summed up the day. I was delighted for him," said Holloway, whose side was ending a five-game run without a victory.

"To do one either side shows fantastic ability but you don't get that good without practising.

"I had a chat with Andre in the week and hopefully he will get up to speed and playing in the English league. He didn't have a pre-season but has shown what he is capable of.

"I'm very, very pleased for him and I'm pleased to see Jonny (Williams) back in the team and off the bench. Happy new year to everyone and that's a great start for us."

Holloway will now turn his attention to the January transfer window, looking to add to his squad as well as avoid losing too many players, and he added: "We're trying to help the squad, we're trying to build it to give us a good chance to have a second half of the season that will keep everybody singing.

"If people come in, we know where we are. I've made a few phone calls, I think we need to strengthen one or two areas. I've had a look at the academy set-up and there are some really good young players.

"Are they ready to help this lot yet? Probably not, give them a year, who knows? We're working on some targets, so hopefully I'll bring some good ones to help this group. It's not about how much you spend it's about what sort player you get."

know it's only one game, and Arsenal have got an amazing midfield as is; but seriously, is Arsene Wenger the only person on Earth who doesn't want Cesc at their club?
