Pulis: I won't risk spirit

Crystal Palace boss Tony Pulis admits he will only sign new players with the same "fantastic attitude" as his current players in January.

Tony Pulis: I won't risk team spirit

Palace have won two of their four games under Pulis - who replaced Ian Holloway as boss last month - and they gave Chelsea a serious test before going down 2-1 on Saturday.

Pulis has been impressed by the fighting spirit of his players despite their lowly position in the Premier League table.

And he insists he will not risk that spirit by signing players who may have the pedigree but not necessarily the same ethos.

"It's tough, because you go into a football club and you're playing catch-up. In the Premier League it's such a relentless league and you have runs of games where you're playing against teams like Chelsea where it's very, very difficult to get points," Pulis said.

"The spirit from the players in the past five, six games has been absolutely fantastic.

"One thing we must be careful of is that we bring players in with the same attitude of these because their attitude has been absolutely fantastic."

Whatever happens in January with new signings, Pulis knows survival remains a difficult goal to achieve.

"I'm not coming to the club saying 'we're going to definitely stay up'," he said.

"All I've said is I'll try and get it sorted out, organised and have a real go at it."

hould have stayed because we carried him for 6.5 years. And then he has a breakthrough season, and was gone soon after. MU fans, you would be as disgusted had C Ronaldo left in 2007 and not 2009.

ood grief. Someone guessed that the form English player at the moment might be in his national side with some other players? And that's espionage? Now if they discovered that Emile Heskey was going to be in the starting line up.... at right back.... THAT would be espionage. Give it a rest Roy.
