Tony Pulis: Crystal Palace manager has outlined his transfer strategy

Pulis wants to bring in new faces as he bids to lift the Eagles away from the Premier League relegation zone and his preference is for grafters with something to prove.

Palace are currently in 18th place in the table ahead of Saturday's match at Tottenham after winning four and drawing one of Pulis' nine games in charge.

Pulis said: "We've got results which have given us an opportunity and a chance to push on now for the last 18 games. That's what everybody was hoping for.

"The window's open now and we're looking to do some business; we need to do some business. We have to bring in people to strengthen us.

"If you bring the right players in, if you can bring one or two in and they gel quickly enough then they can certainly help you turn your season around or give you that push that you need to get over the line.

"The important thing at this football club is that we bring players in who have got something to prove.

"I don't want to be bringing in players who just want to jog through six months. We need people who are going to roll their sleeves up, work hard and make a difference and add to what we've got already.

"I've got a list of players, the chairman (Steve Parish) has got that list of players. We need to get deals done if we're going to push on.

"That's always been my thoughts and that was before I got to the football club."

Pulis refused to be drawn on specific targets when asked about Blackburn defender Scott Dann.

He added: "I've been linked with about 40 different players as well. And this is the window - you get linked with everyone."

Crystal Palce travel to Tottenham on Saturday and Pulis has praised Spurs for their appointment on Tim Sherwood as manager - but claims he's lucky to begin his managerial career at such a good club.

"Tim's been given the job and I'm pleased an English coach has got one of the top jobs.

"I'm sure he'll make the most of it - he was a very determined player. I don't know him that well but he seems a very focused lad.

"He's very lucky to get a club like Tottenham as his first job and I'm sure he'll be determined to make a good fist of it.

"Les (Ferdinand) and Tim have worked at this level and they know the players coming through - not only the senior players but also the younger players in the group.

"Tottenham are one of the teams with some exceptional young talent so I think Daniel (Levy) has made a very good appointment."
