Mick McCarthy: Happy return to Molineux

McCarthy's last match at Molineux ended in a 5-1 reverse to Black Country rivals West Brom and led to his dismissal from the club last February.

The Town manager praised the majority of Wolves fans who gave him a warm reception on his return to the club, but he took a swipe at the boo boys who are now gunning for his replacement Stale Solbakken.

"I would be lying if I said it was nothing special because it is," McCarthy said. "My last game here I had to go out of the back door and I will never forget that. It was a real horrible day for me.

"So to have won and to have had the applause and ovation I got I think shows what most Wolves fans really thought about me as opposed to the minority that would not let me leave by the front door.

"The ones who were singing to get me out are doing it to Stale Solbakken now. Be careful: you might get what you wish for.

"But that was a lasting memory for me now - being on the pitch and being applauded off.

"It was lovely and that is how I would like to remember my time here rather than anything else so thank you to all of them who did that for me today."

m starting to think Roman may never actually be happy at the top level. If he wants all conquering fancy football I wonder if he'd be better off buying a lower division side then paying outlandish salaries to attract high caliber players too good for the division.

afa has to be favourite for the Everton job now, surely :) He'll realise his ambition to live and work on Merseyside again, get the best out of whoever plays for them, maybe win some cups and be thoroughly loathed by the toffee fans. What's not to like? Go ead, Ken, gimajob!

hat is arguably the least inspiring England I have ever seen. There is not a single name in that list that makes me think I might actually want to watch this team. Not a one.
