The 24-year-old is out of contract in the summer and was attracting interest from a number of clubs.

Ipswich have been on his trail for a number of months, and have now moved to secure his signature by agreeing a deal with Colchester.

Sky Sports understands that Wordsworth is now due to undergo a medical at Ipswich before finalising the deal.

Wordsworth has spent his entire career with Colchester, where he is now captain and has played nearly 200 games for the club.
