Christophe Berra: Closing in on a move to Ipswich

Scotland international Berra is available on a free transfer after leaving Wolves earlier this summer.

Rangers and a number of Championship clubs have expressed an interest in signing Berra, but Ipswich are leading the race for the former Hearts man.

Ipswich boss Mick McCarthy is a big fan of the central defender having signed him during his time in charge of Wolves.

The 28-year-old is thought to be keen on a move to be reunited with McCarthy and talks are thought to be at an advanced stage with the Portman Road outfit.

ah, Fergie is just having another pop at Rooney. He just wants to put him down whenever he gets a chance. Rooney is by far the best English player. Carrick is not far behind, mind. However, by elevating Carrick like that, Sir is having a dig at Wayne. Fergie is well-known for mind games like that. Good to see he's still feisty.
