Grant Holt: Waiting to discover the extent of a hamstring strain

Holt had to be replaced in the closing stages of Norwich's 2-1 victory over Wigan Athletic on Saturday after experiencing some discomfort.

Hughton hopes it is not a serious injury ahead of a busy festive period, with a trip to the Midlands to face West Bromwich Albion next up on Saturday.

"He just felt his hamstring slightly, so we will assess that one," Hughton told the Pink'un.

"We hope it is a minimal one, but as always with these things we won't know for a couple of days.

"He is a tough character, Grant, and we hope it is not too bad."

Holt has played a key role in Norwich's recent run of good form but Hughton is confident he has a strong enough squad to fill the void.

"Holty is doing a great job but it is probably a little bit tougher for him to score the goals he would like to score," said Hughton.

"But he is doing a fabulous job for the team so it means there have to be contributions from Robert Snodgrass, Wes Hoolahan, the defenders and Anthony Pilkington as well."
